"a portrait of our cubs, once a week, every week, in 2014"

pups: forever napping. lucky dogs.

kingston: watching an austin city limits concert of fun and dawes on pbs video with dad. you're teething and cranky. watching the performance helps takes your mind of the discomfort.

kingston: you love to watch your papa make breakfast. he whips you up the best eggs while listening to some good tunes. our mornings together might be mama's favorite.

pups: waiting patiently outside to join the sunday morning party.

The 52 Project - 01/52

"a portrait of our cub, once a week, every week, in 2014"
kingston: the first week of december has been so cold. i worry all the time. are you warm enough? this photo was taken with my iphone, because the click of the camera wakes you up. you are a limited sleeper so we do are best not the wake you when those little gray eyes are finally resting.

practicing simplicity. doesn't that just sound calming?! well over at the practicing simplicity blog they do just that. and it seems to be going quite well complimenting her tales of motherhood. in 2012 this inspiring photographer started the 52 project - a portrait of my children, once a week, every week. i  stumbled upon her blog and instantly fell in love. what a wonderful way to captured their childhood. i had already begun snapping weekly baby bump photos so i thought when this baby is born i am going to do it. however, after baby arrived the thought of that commitment was a little overwhelming. a monthly post seemed more doable. lately i have been motivated by photographers like elena shumilova, a friend shared an article with me about her incredible images of her children. i can't get enough of them. along with the sweet mary beth johnson from annapolis and company. so this year, 2014, though i am late documenting them here, i'm doing it. i also love that she welcomes you to make the project your own. i have been toying with the idea of including our pups. after all, they truly were my first kiddos. they introduced us to what it was like to love and care for something that completed relied on you. it has been good training.

Celebrating

december is always a busy month for everyone, but this year has been especially busy for us. my return to work, a first birthday and hosting christmas eve has kept us on the move. it is definitely a good kind of busy. however, we were very much looking forward to spending a few days together just relaxing. here are a few (okay more than a few snapshots from the month.)

it has been a quiet around the blog as we welcome 2014.  we are back to the daily grind. attempting to figure out new schedules and life with baby and two working parents. it has been a little bumpy, but i think we are starting to figure out what works for us. if i could only get this little cub to sleep through the night i think we would be golden. does anyone have any recommendations besides methods that involve "cry it out?" i would love to hear about them.
