Surf Fest V

we spent several weekends at fort adams this summer. besides the newport folk festival we also spent an afternoon at surf fest v hosted by local legend sid abbruzzi. sid is the owner of waterbrothers a long standing surf outfit in newport, ri. and where i purchased my first skateboard. sid recently has been nominated into the east coast surfing hall of fame and with events like surf fest it is well deserved. the event includes a sea of vintage surf boards, vintage skateboards, 1/2 pipe contests, 3/4 pipe, live music, old skool beach mobiles, rad ventures like weird wood and grain surfboards, food trucks and all the coconut water you could drink. what more could anyone ask for?. here are a few photos from the day.

thanks waterbrothers

Newport Folk Festival 2015

kingston, keith and i made it through three full day of the newport folk festival this year. and our little one was a champ. every morning he patiently waited for the gates to open and was quite happy all weekend to be part of the crowd, music and excitement. this year there was an exceptionally big crowd, a little over crowded at times, but we enjoyed it just the same. as always the lineup didn't disappoint and the weekend was a success. as our little guy gets older we hangout in the family tent a more each year. the tent is always breezy, includes a small stage, and offers little crafts and late july corn organic chips which makes for happy kiddos and parents. kingston even scored a free cd from ghost of paul revere after their great set.

our weekend favorites include roger waters, strand of oaks, nathaniel rateliff and the night sweats, and the young talented sammy brue who if you don't know, you need to know in my opinion. i see a bright future for this east nashville kid. and as a surprise guest, james taylor played the main stage saturday night. it was an amazing weekend of music. if you would like to listen to a few of the weekends live recording click here: newport folk fest concert recording and the full 2015 lineup here: 2015 lineup.

strand of oaks
couldn't get past the drum tent without a quick session

attempting to convince him there is no chee chee at the festival
you can see how well that went
caught the end of sammy brue's set in the family tent and was happy to see the full set in the museum

celebrating the end of a good day with dad

ready to go this morning

love them

rocking hard today
sharing his ride with friends

nathaniel rateliff and the night sweats hands down the best set of the weekend

using the leg of this chair as a microphone… this kid is too much
until next year newport folk fest.
