Annual Newport Folk Festival

keith, kingston and i packed up the car early on a chilly saturday morning in july and headed down to the newport folk festival. this has been a summer tradition of ours for quite some time, but the first with baby in tow. usually we stay in newport for the weekend, but decided to just do two day trip instead. this year we were so excited to bring kingston along and meet up with our good friends nick and andrea and their little one, luca. the weekend was supposed to be cool and rainy, but mother nature held out and blessed us with mostly sunny skies. if you missed this music filled weekend, no worries you can listen to the live performances here: npr.org

all cozy and ready to go
pre-made walnut blueberry bread for the mornings
we're off
in beautiful company this year
luca was excited to see his favorite singer, elizabeth mitchell and you are my flower, in the family tent.  this area is wonderful for the kiddos. music, activities, free snacks and shade. what else could you ask for. thank you newport folk festival!
ms. mitchell and co. has definitely gained a few news fans. it was a great way to start the weekend.
second stop hurray for the riff raff. she is pretty dreamy.
my little love napping. i have to admit i was a little nervous about the napping situation but it worked out just fine.
woke up in time to catch the end of rayland baxter
important supplies
such a good performance by rayland baxter
playing along
houndmouth. what can i say. you guys and gal rock! absolutely one of our weekend favorites.
napping again with double ear protection during jim james. he slept for hours. maybe i should try this at home ;)
bay islands
finally cooling off again after a hot afternoon
girl talk
the boys getting ready for the avett brothers
dancing with mama
if i have to pick a favorite it might be the avett brothers. they were an awesome way to end the day.
getting sleepy again. it must be all this music and ocean air
delighted that this magazine worthy family plans to joining us again next year
we could not have asked for a better day. looking forward to tomorrow.
we arrived prepared for rain on day two. however, the day turned hot and steamy
started off at the family tent again
this one slept through spirit family reunion
luca sporting his necklace from the kids tent
just waking up
 bean boots and rain coats
 another sleeping baby
the lumineers were so much fun
such a good baby all weekend. he totally earned his festival stripes.
this one is going in kingston's room. we think he earned it.
